三月末清风习习，上中国际部11年级师生兴致勃勃地前往崇明岛进行为期三天的世界公民日活动。11年级学生对于户外实践活动充满了期待，校园中早已洋溢着浓郁的兴奋之情。

As the junior students approached the official week of Global Citizens’ Day (GCD), visible excitement filled the halls. Students always all look forward to this activity-packed, three-day trip to Chongming Island.

DAY  1

3月29日，碧空如洗，天朗气清，11年级的学生们整装待发，踏上了前往崇明的路途。学生们迎着凉爽的春风，盼望着在农场体验到真实的惬意，在实际中体会到世界公民的责任。

On March 29th, the morning of departure, students gathered, suitcases in hand, clad in a GCD-themed jacket. With clear skies and a clear destination, the GCD buses set out for Qianwei Farm and Agricultural Experience Center. The ride was chill and restful, rejuvenating students for the big event ahead.

到达营地后的开幕式上，学生中心任刘琴老师和11年级主任洪淼老师先后发言，他们鼓励同学们在本次活动中“亲近自然，体验责任”，并提醒活动时的安全事项。营地教练对上中国际部师生的到来表示热烈欢迎。本次世界公民日活动正式开始。

After students settled down in their dorms, they gathered at the outdoor stage for the opening ceremony. Director Liu and Mr. Hong Miao, the Head of G11, took turns wishing every student success at making lasting memories. Coaches planned multiple interesting activities to let students experience the wonderful nature around them.

下午，学生们在农田中挥洒汗水、耕耘不缀。一批学生组成挖笋的队伍，前往竹林开展活动。尽管土坡十分陡峭且难以站立，同学们还是通过不断实践渐渐感悟到了挖笋的精髓。而多数学生来到耕种区拿起锄头与铲子铺出适宜耕种的土地，再稍加清水润湿泥土，种下大葱与青菜。偶有闲暇之刻，一只青蛙飞跃而过，又让看似枯燥的种植过程充满了活力与笑声。在数小时的耕种后，当学生们直起酸痛的腰背，望向种下的青青绿苗，自豪感油然而生，让这一刻永留于心，同学们亲近自然，也更加了解世界公民的意义——以多元的身份，拥抱、爱护与我们息息相关的环境。

The students spent the afternoon working in the fields. One group of students formed a bamboo shoot digging team and ventured to the bamboo forest. Although the slope was very difficult to stand on, the students persisted, slowly discovering the essence of bamboo shoot unearthing. The other group of students helped cultivate the land for planting scallion and cabbage. Shovel and hoe in hand, students tilled the land by loosening moist topsoil in order to create a canal system. Occasionally, a friendly frog would appear and some would engage in the playing of “catch the frog.” This farming session made students realize the essence of being a Global Citizen—embracing the world with love for nature and all kinds of people.

夜幕降临，学生们在活动中心齐聚一堂，观赏各班为GCD活动制作的视频。各班的视频都具有鲜明的特色，有的突出了环保对于生态和个人的价值，也有以多元化为主题展示了同学们的特长，舞蹈、魔方、篮球等各种元素显现了百家争鸣的各班特点。大家在欢声笑语的观摩中，加大了凝聚力，度过了一个难忘的夜晚。

During the GCD class video presentations, all students appreciated the superb cinematography, acting of each class, and the unique themes. The auditorium was filled with cheers, drawing to an end the unforgettable evening.

Day 2

第二日一大早，每个班级分别派出一批学生坐上通往本地菜场的巴士。在路途中，学生们巧思妙想，计划着当天中午的菜单。各色各样的蔬菜、水果、鱼肉应接不暇，然而学生们没有片刻犹豫，按计划精准地跑向自己所需食材的摊位。在成功取得食材之后，他们相聚在室外的大锅灶旁，生起柴火，在旁围起板砖防止火势弥漫，再在柴火上架起锅炉。清水洗锅，香油烹炸，样样美食精美出炉。学生们迫不及待地围在桌前，品尝自己或其他班级成员烧煮的美食，因亲手制作，而更觉来之不易，不禁开始体恤平日里厨师们为准备饭菜的精心付出。

As students returned to the Qianwei camp base with bountiful bags of produce, they gathered around the outdoor stove tops. In the following hours of cooking and preparation, students exhibited great cooperation. All of them were delegated different roles and showed willingness to help. Some unpacked the vegetables for a cold rinse, some got out cutting boards and did knife work, and others humbly stood over the wood smoke, supplementing firewood to keep the stove fire going. Despite the smoke and sweat, the sweet aroma of each dish brought much overriding joy. The cooking process was not without challenges; it taught the students to stay calm and be flexible when diffusing cooking crises. But beyond this, this experience also taught students to appreciate those who prepare their everyday meals that they often take for granted.

与此同时，定向越野活动也拉开了帷幕，学生们穿梭在田野与草地之间，以班级为集体完成九项竞技项目。临摹精巧的九曲桥考验了学生们的艺术素养，促使他们更细致入微的感受生活，捕捉生命中的美；百步穿杨好似将同学们带到遥远的大草原上，如古代将士般恣意飞扬地拉弓、射箭；定向越野在进一步提升体能的同时也锻炼了团队合作和判断力，让学生掌握身为世界公民的基本素质。到了下午，学生们来到活动中心了解中医知识，并将六种料各取半勺舀进香袋中，自己动手制作安神与预防感冒的香囊，感受中华文化的博大精深。

The activities of the second day were mainly divided into two parts. In the morning, students participated in directional activities. Students traveled in groups, shuffling between sporting courts and meadows to complete all nine competitive events. The Jiuqu Bridge sketching activity tested students’ artistic skills and patience to reproduce a river scene, urging students to capture the small details and beauty within nature. Students then headed to the open prarie for Frisbee and archery activities, flying disks and arrows in full style. The LNT scavenger hunt not only improved physical fitness but also exercised students’ teamwork and judgment. Students mastered the basic qualities of being world citizens like team collaboration and persistence.

夜晚七点半，学生们来到露天广场牵起手，围着熊熊篝火唱起歌。火花在空中飞扬，学生们在台上台下尽情释放自我，拨动琴弦，放声歌唱。在此刻，无论来自世界何方，都融入了这一欢乐的海洋。大家同唱一首歌，同跳一支舞，体会到集体生活的乐趣。余韵久久未散，学生们心满意足地结束了第二天的活动。

Followed by twilight, students gathered at the opening space on the field again. Hand in hand, students chanted popular songs while circling the rising fire. Students with performances released their voices on the stage and performed wholeheartedly. At that moment, students with different cultural backgrounds all joined in this cheerful event.

DAY  3

第三日早上，学生们在吃完早饭后相聚于体育馆，体验动手编草绳。从一捧干枯的稻草到学生手里一根根结实的麻绳，同学们深刻地体会到了几千年前祖先无穷的智慧。随后，同学们大开脑洞，用自己制作的草绳进行了跳长绳等活动，草绳虽稍显扎手，但是同学们都沉浸在竞技的乐趣中，大家的团队合作能力和集体荣誉感都得到了进一步的提升。The morning activity of knitting straw rope allowed students to practice their craftsmanship. Throughout the activity, students experienced the ancient lifestyle and acquired the knowledge of their ancestors. Students utilized the ropes they had just made to conduct activities like jump rope. Once again, the delightful atmosphere filled the room.

天的世界公民日来到了尾声，营地里同学们留下了无尽的欢声笑语；奔跑于乡野之间，穿梭于和风细雨之中，在默默无声的点滴中，同学们深刻地体会到了大自然壮阔的美丽，也意识到了作为世界公民保护地球生态环境的责任；本次活动将凝结成为一段永恒的闪闪发光的回忆。

The three-day trip finally came to an end. During the past few days, students left marks of joy and laughter in every corner of this island. Wandering through the fields and traveling in the wind and rain, students absorbed the wild nature in awe. After a series of fruitful activities, students understood the responsibilities of being eco-friendly citizens. On their way back, students could not help but linger at the site.
