NO.1
Puzzle Up是12年级Mideo, Andy, Jimmy, Jeff, Ben设计的产品。
NO.2
Coffee Aromatherapy Candle
NO.3
Battree
SCBS is committed to providing a platform for every student to develop themselves. Last Friday, the high school held an entrepreneurship competition, which cultivated students' entrepreneurial awareness and gave them the opportunity to show their talent, creativity and dynamism.
The participants in this competition involved Economics, Business, and Accounting students from grades 10, 11, and 12. Under the guidance of Mr. Farhadzadegan, the students combined the knowledge learned in class with their own business ideas, developed entrepreneurial plans through continuous discussions with their team members, and presented them to the judges and audience during the event. Among the 13 teams, the judges finally selected the top three winning teams and the best presenter.
NO.1
Puzzle Up
Puzzle Up is a product designed by Mideo, Andy, Jimmy, Jeff, and Ben who are all G12 students. They noticed that electronic devices such as computers have a limited lifespan and need to be replaced every few years to maintain their effectiveness. The students wanted to help consumers save costs and avoid waste by allowing them to upgrade their devices through switching pieces of hardware instead of buying entirely new devices. This allows consumers to upgrade their computer hardware or DIY their own computer at a lower cost and achieve their desired performance.
NO.2
Coffee Aromatherapy Candle
Tony, Jason, April and Allen from G10 designed the Coffee Aromatherapy Candle. They mentioned that they noticed many coffee shops in Shanghai dispose of their coffee grounds either by giving them away for free or throwing them away. They hoped to design a more environmentally friendly and efficient solution to this issue. So they came up with the idea of using coffee grounds to make aromatherapy candles, which would be environmentally friendly while also meeting people's demand for a high-quality lifestyle. In addition to the aroma of coffee, they also created many other scents such as coffee flower and coffee fruit. As the only physical product on-site, the candles were sold out by teachers and students.
NO.3
Battree
Summer, Wendy, Mike, Adrian, Tom and Louis from Grade 11 designed a product called ‘Battree’. Students believed that battery pollution has a serious impact today. Batteries contain various heavy metals. If they are discarded, these heavy metals will seep into the soil, pollute water, fish, and crops, and destroy the living environment of humans. The reason why batteries cause pollution is that many people do not know how to dispose of them after use and will throw them together with ordinary garbage. However, the ‘Battree’ battery only needs to remove the positive and negative electrodes and then bury it in the soil. The battery can degrade itself and sprout flowers.
The principle of chitosan zinc electrolyte is to replace the toxic and harmful heavy metal electrolyte in the traditional battery. Chitosan is a substance extracted from the crab shell, and zinc can also be degraded naturally under reversible reaction so that the whole battery itself can be degraded in the soil, and only the positive and negative electrode parts are kept and then reused. Because it is a magnetic suction device, it is also very easy to replace.
‘The competition has helped to develop the collaboration and presentation skills of every participant.’ said G10 Joseph, the best presenter.
In addition to the award-winning products mentioned above, other teams presented a wide range of impressive ideas and creative projects. These included a smart mirror that could help match clothing, an on-demand pet-sitting service, an app called SOULIBRARY that allows users to view the life stories of deceased loved ones by scanning their QR code, and educational games for preschool children that incorporate big data analysis. These ideas left a deep impression on the teachers and students in attendance.
As Academic Vice Principal James Stubbert, one of the judges pointed out, the entrepreneurship competition provided students with an opportunity to show their creativity and business acumen, as well as promoting their collaboration with others. He was pleased to see the embodiment of the values of Concord in the students and hoped that they would accept more challenges upon returning to campus.
