万源城协和双语学校：小初衔接课程体验活动

On March 11th, Wanyuan Campus was full of spring feeling and flowers. In order to help the Grade 5 Wanyuan students who are about to graduate to improve their understanding of the school's Middle School study life and prepare for their Middle School study, Wanyuan Primary school and Middle School jointly arranged a unique Middle School bridging course for students.

在初中部孙主任、小学部陈主任以及五年级班主任老师们的带领下，学生们走进初中部“最美学科教室”进行学习。初中部的学科教室极具特色，它既是学习教室，也是个性化辅导空间；既是展示空间，也是实验室；既是图书馆，甚至还是博物馆……在这里，学生们可以沉浸式地感受不同学科所带来的魅力。

Under the leadership of director Sun of the Middle School, director Chen of the Primary department and the head teachera of the fifth grade, the students went into the "most beautiful subject classroom" of the Middle School to study. The subject classroom in Middle School is very distinctive, which is not only a learning classroom, but also a personalized counseling space; it is not only an exhibition space, but also a laboratory, a library and even a museum ... where students can immerse themselves in the charm brought by different disciplines.

在DT课上，探索结构力学，设计意面棉花糖高塔。

In DT class, explore structural mechanics and design the spaghetti marshmallow tower.

在物理课上，通过实验探究凸透镜成像原理。

In physics class, the principle of convex lens imaging was explored through experiments.

在科学课上，了解静电产生原理。

In science class, students could understand the principle of static electricity generation.

在地理课上，“行”万里路，学习祖国的名山大川，对比撒哈拉沙漠和塔克拉玛干沙漠的沙子……

In geography class, students "walked" millions of road and learnt from the famous mountains and rivers of the motherland, and compare the sand in the Sahara Desert and the Magan Desert in Tahra ...

在化学课上，和同伴动手合作完成实验，提取氧气。

In chemistry class, students cooperated with the partner to complete the experiment and extract oxygen.

Experience of Middle School experience course

P5A 徐昕妍 Yoyo Xu

时间匆匆，再过几个月我们马上要步入初中的生活，参加了学校安排的初中体验课程，让我发现课程的内容和形式比小学的更加丰富多彩、更加有趣，到了初中会增加生物课、化学课、物理课等。我比较喜欢化学实验，桌上摆放了形状各异的器皿和试管，今天也知道了如何自制纯氧气。我觉得这些课程不仅好玩，还让我们学到了许多知识，也可以将学到的知识运用到生活中。学校精心准备的体验活动让我对初中生活更加向往和充满好奇感。

Time flies. In a few months, we will soon step into Middle School life so participating in the Middle SchoolMiddle School experience course arranged by the school made me find that the content and form were more colorful and interesting than those in Primary schools. In Middle School, biology, chemistry and physics will be added. I like chemical experiments better. There are utensils and test tubes of different shapes on the table. Today, I also learnt how to make pure oxygen by myself. I think these courses are not only fun, but also let us learn a lot of knowledge, which can be applied to life. The experience activities carefully prepared by the school make me more yearning and curious about Middle School life.

早上起床，睁开眼睛，想到今天要去体验一天初中的课程，我就感觉有一股激动的“电流”流遍我全身。化学、物理、历史……这些新鲜而有趣的课程都是我在小学部从来没有体会过的。我三下五除二吃完早餐，朝学校飞奔而去。

When I got up in the morning and opened my eyes, I felt an exciting "current" flowing all over my body when I thought that I would experience a day of Middle School courses today. I have never experienced these fresh and interesting courses like Chemistry, Physics and History in Primary school. I ate breakfast in a rush and ran to school.

到了学校，我怀着激动的心情坐下，不久我们的陈主任就开始在台上发言了。几分钟过去了，“请王老师班级离开大礼堂去上课”的声音响起，我的心里开始了一段兴奋的鼓点，快步跟着队伍朝教室走去。

When I got to school, I sat down with excitement, and soon our director Chen began to speak on the stage. A few minutes later, the voice of "Please leave the auditorium for Mr. Wang's class" sounded, and my heart began to drum with excitement, and I quickly followed the team towards the classroom.

第一节是科学课。科学老师洪老师给我们讲了许多关于静电的知识。原子、电子、中子，也许是因为之前有所了解吧，我听得津津有味。还有令人好奇的气球实验，令人惊讶的可乐瓶实验，和令人爆笑的电流实验。老师讲得十分生动，我们也听得十分投入。

The first lesson was Science. Mr. Hong, the science teacher, told us a lot about static electricity. Atoms, electrons, neutrons, because I knew something before, and I listened with relish. There were also curious balloon experiments, surprising coke bottle experiments, and hilarious current experiments. The teacher spoke very vividly and we listened very attentively.

第二节是历史课，也是我最喜欢的一门课。老师给我们讲了宋朝战争诗歌中的壮烈，也讲了宋朝记录生活的诗歌中古代文人风雅的表现。而这些都不是这节课的重点。那重点是什么呢?是宋朝那繁华的大相国寺。在我们的印象中，寺庙从来都是冷清，庄重的。可是这座寺庙却不同了，玩具，生活用具，甚至是人们印象中只有现在才会有的宠物店，都可以在这座寺庙里找到。繁华程度丝毫不逊色于现代。

The second class was History, which was also my favorite class. The teacher told us about the heroism in the war poems of the Song Dynasty, and also about the elegant performance of ancient literati in the poems that recorded life in the Song Dynasty. And these were not the focus of this class. So what's the point? It was the prosperous Sokokuji of the Song Dynasty. In our impression, temples have always been deserted and solemn. But this temple is different. Toys, daily necessities and even pet shops can be found in this temple. The degree of prosperity is not inferior to that of modern times.

接下来的这节课，可谓是最有趣的一堂课了。DT，设计与技术的意思。这节课最主要的部分就是——棉花糖/意大利面塔！看起来只是一个好玩的小游戏，实际上却讲述了很多有意思的问题。为什么搭塔最好用三角形?为什么圆形能支撑很重的东西？我们组最后搭的棉花糖塔，虽然不算好看，但又高又稳，还是很有成就感的! 可我们班有些同学的重点却并不仅在此，他们似乎更关注那一大包五颜六色的棉花糖 ……

The next lesson was the most interesting one, DT--Design and Technology. The main part of this lesson was to make marshmallows/spaghetti towers! It looked like a fun little game, but actually it told many interesting facts. Why is it best to use triangles to build towers? Why can a circle support heavy things? The cotton candy tower that our group finally built, although not beautiful, was tall and stable, and it was still very fulfilling! But the focus of some students in our class was not only here, they seemed to pay more attention to that big bag of colorful cotton candy ...

经过今天的初中体验课，我对我们学校有了更深入的了解。初中课程非常的有意思，且蕴含大量有趣的知识，让人十分投入。我感觉自己已经迫不及待地想要快一点升入初中了！

After today's Middle School experience classes, I have a deeper understanding of our school. The Middle School curriculum is very interesting and contains a lot of interesting knowledge, which makes people very engaged. After today's Middle Schoolexperience classes, I feel that I can't wait to get into Middle School soon!

P5C 严菲儿 Sophie Yan

今天我参加了由学校初中部组织的课程体验活动，收获颇丰。初中部的老师带领我们分别上了一节生物课、地理课和物理课。令我印象最深刻的是生物课“解剖活虾”的实验，我第一次动手解剖了一只“活物”，有点忐忑也有点好奇，最后在老师的鼓励和帮助下完成了实验。

Today, I participated in the course experience activities organized by the Middle School of our school and gained a lot. The teacher in Middle School led us to have a Biology class, a Geography class and a Physics class respectively. What impressed me most was the experiment of "dissecting live shrimp" in Biology class. I dissected a "living thing" for the first time, and I was a little uneasy and curious. Finally, I finished the experiment with the encouragement and help of my teacher.

总之，这是一次奇妙的旅程，让我对初中课程充满了向往！

In short, this is a wonderful journey, which makes me full of yearning for Middle School courses!

时光飞逝，我们已经快要结束小学生活跨入初中生活了。今天上午，我们来到了初中部进行特色课程体验。我们上了DT课、科学课和历史课。其中，令我印象最深的是DT课。这节课上，我们一起组队用A4纸、意大利面、棉花糖等多种材料做了高塔。这节课让我体验到了团队合作的精神与魅力。协和初中部给我们提供了丰富的资源，并且鼓励我们自己探索。我非常期待未来的初中生活。

Time flies, we have almost finished our Primary school life and entered Middle School life. This morning, we came to Middle School to have a special course experience. We have DT class, Science class and History class. Among them, what impressed me the most was DT class. In this class, we teamed up to make a tower with A4 paper, spaghetti, cotton candy and other materials. This class let me experience the spirit and charm of teamwork. SUIS Wanyuan Middle School provides us with rich resources and encourages us to explore ourselves. I am very much looking forward to my future Middle School life.

在一个微风习习的上午，学校的初中体验课让我们来到了校园。一只脚刚踏进教室，和这个学科相关的装饰和布置一下子就映入眼帘，让人感觉焕然一新、神清气爽。我们班先体验了地理课程，老师那精彩的讲述让我们所有人都着了迷，下了课我们都感觉自己获得了不少的知识。让我觉得十分有趣的是化学课程。我们小心翼翼地进行着实验，这次我们的目标是制造出氧气。严谨的实验步骤和实验成功后的成就感，无不让人感受到化学的乐趣。生物课的课题更是让人感到十分新鲜，我们要解剖一只活虾。刚开始很多人都没有勇气，但是不断尝试后最终大家都成功了。这次的挑战不仅让人懂得了尝试的可贵，还学到了许多新知识。经过了一个上午的体验，我越来越对初中的课程心生向往了呢！

Wow, we had such an exciting day today!  We went to school to experience Middle School courses. When we entered the classroom, the decorations and arrangements were related to the subjects, and it felt so fresh!  We had a Geography lesson first, and the teacher made it so interesting. I learned a lot!  The most exciting class was Chemistry. We conducted an experiment to produce oxygen. It was so cool to follow the steps and finally succeeded!  In Biology, we dissected a live shrimp, which was scary at first, but we all did it in the end. It taught us the value of trying and we learned so much. I'm so excited to learn more about Middle School courses.
