READING AT SUIS JKEMW
Here at SUIS Jiaoke EMW, the English Department places great emphasis on reading. Not only do we regularly take students to the library and encourage them to read the fantastic range of books on offer, we also have a dedicated reading app – Read Theory – to help challenge our students to complete reading assignments on a weekly basis.
在协和教科融合课程部，我们深刻意识到阅读的重要性，英语部门也非常注重阅读教学。我们不仅定期带学生去图书馆，鼓励他们阅读图书馆提供的各种书籍，我们今年还特别引进了专业的阅读应用程序--Read Theory，辅助融合学子们快速提高阅读技能，并帮助他们完成每周的阅读作业。
Reading from a young age also helps a child to develop a love and appreciation for books – but there are other benefits too. Reading particularly helps with the development of literacy skills.
从小阅读有助于培养学生对书籍的热爱和鉴赏能力，不仅如此，阅读还将有助于拓宽英语词汇量，对孩子识字能力的发展取得至关重要的作用。

OUR LIFE IS LIKE A BOOK
During Book Celebration Week, the English department has been busy hosting a range of activities to celebrate books. We have daily readings from various members of the English department, as well as a reading of students’ very own short stories, taking place in the library. Students have also participated in a book quiz that has tested their literary knowledge, and on Friday 2nd December a book swap will take place, for students to exchange books.
在图书庆祝周期间，英语部门举办了一系列活动来与学生一起欢庆这个阅读主题周。每天都有来自英语部门各位老师的英语读物朗读，以及在图书馆举行的学生自编的短篇小说朗诵会。学生们还参加了一个关于文学知识的测验，12月2日星期五举办了图书交换活动，学生们可以交换图书，拓展阅读。
To help support your child in improving their reading and literacy skills, we kindly ask you to encourage your child to read as many books in English as possible, in any genre that your child shows an interest in. You will soon see the positive effects that this will have - across all of their subjects at school.
为了帮助您的孩子更快更好的提高阅读和识字技能，我们希望家长可以鼓励孩子尽可能多地阅读他们感兴趣的任何类型的英语原文书籍。付出的每一份努力，都将会看到积极的回报。您很快就会发现提高阅读技能和读写能力将有助于孩子在校的所有学科科目。
