今年,我校参与了中国学校奖 (China School Award) 中关顾教育奖项的角逐,从100多所学校中脱颖而出,跻身前三,入围决赛。浙江肯思外籍人员子女学校关顾体系强在何处?

这是一个评选大陆K12国际学校中各个领域的佼佼者的奖项,分设多样性和包容性、全人教育、科技教育、员工关怀等共10个维度的奖项,专家组将会对入围者进行评选。

其中,关顾教育奖项旨在选出为学生和学校社区提供优质关顾教育方面表现出最佳奉献和创新精神的学校。

从建校之初就得到大量关注的关顾体系到底是什么?本学期又有什么变化?一起来看看吧!

在杭州狄邦文理学校,关顾课程体系与与学术课程同样重要。关顾体系包括三大部分:导师制、学院制、寄宿制。这三种制度相辅相成,为学生提供一个身心安全成长的环境,为学生的在校生活提供认可和支持。

我们关注每个学生整体的发展,并有完整成熟的体系支持关顾教育的每个环节:个人导师模式、社区与福利课程、级长制度等。关顾体系会融入国际化的日常教学系统中及学校生活的方方面面,导师制是最好的体现。

每一位教师、职工都是学术与关顾教育的领导者,教师同时身兼导师一职,这确保师生之间可以建立亲密平等的关系,展开有意义的对话,帮助我们的学生在每个年级、每个阶段应对挑战。

学院制一直是我校关顾体系的亮点之一,今年,学院制再次升级。每个月,我们都举办了学院活动、学院挑战,更有一支积极、热情的队伍负责学院活动的举办,优秀的学院负责人为学生营造了良好的学院氛围,提供了许多成长机会。

每个月我们都会举办两次学院比赛:学院活动和学院挑战赛。学院活动是每个月规模最大、最吸引人的校园活动之一,旨在让更多的学生参与进来。这学期,我们已经举办了学院彩虹跑、学院拼写大赛和学院音乐会。接下来,我们还有学院TedTalk!

学院挑战则侧重于挖掘学生的个人能力,鼓励他们以自己的能力为学院争得荣誉,做出贡献,这帮助学生更好地建立自信心,让他们意识到个人在集体中的价值。这一活动深受学生欢迎,近期的学院歌唱比赛就吸引到了40多名参赛者。

学院制是关顾体系中重要的一环,通过学院制,学生的团队合作能力、抗压能力得到加强,并且理解了什么是健康的竞争关系。

关顾教育培养的品质,是学生未来面临的一切工作的基础。在未来择校、就业时,雇主与大学关心的并不仅仅是成绩,而是关注什么让学生在竞争者中能脱颖而出。分数并不能代表一切,韧性、勇气、善良、同理心、团队合作能力等软实力才会帮助一个人走得更远。

无论环境如何,有能力为他人着想,有勇气面对逆境,在困难的时候表现出坚持不懈的精神,有能力爱和善待所有人,面对未来时才会更坚定,更具勇气。这是我们理想学生的模样,也是关顾体系能给予学生最宝贵的财富。

This year, our schooltook part in the competition for the China School Awards, with over 100 schools taking part, and in the end, our school was among the top three finalists.

There are ten award categories – most awards are open to schools. The winners will be selected by an independent panel of experts. The Pastoral Care award recognises the school that has demonstrated the greatest dedication and innovation in providing world-class pastoral care to its students and wider school community.

What is The Pastoral Programme? What can it bring to our students? Let's take a look!

Our pastoral programme is something that is as important to us as our academic provision, which includes tutor system,  boarding and House system.

We are acutely aware of the need to focus on the whole child – our deep attention to pastoral provision ensures is a testament to this approach. Whilst we have robust systems and frameworks, such as our close-personal-tutoring (CPT) model, community and wellbeing curriculum, prefect team , what sets us apart is the fact that we place such an emphasis on the fact that our staff body are academic and pastoral leaders; teachers and tutors, equally. 

This ensures that the relationship our staff have with our pupils is unrivalled – allowing close, meaningful relationships and conversations that allow us to help our students in traversing their way through the various rigors, demands and successes of each grade.

This year was our House system is the highlight of the pastoral programme. A great deal of time and attention has gone into ensuring we have a robust House Calendar and a dedicated team of Heads of House who are pro-active, passionate and committed to developing the House programme in the school.

Each month sees us hold two unique House competitions: House Events and House Challenges. The House Events are our marquee events aimed at engaging as many students as possible. So far we’ve enjoyed huge success and participation in our House Color Run, House Spelling Bee and our biggest ever House Music Competition. Next up, House TedTalk!

Our House Challenge focuses on individuals and their ability to contribute to their house on a personal level. This allows students who are developing their confidence or prefer to contribute to their house as individuals. The House Challenges have been a huge success, with our most recent – House Sing – having over 40 entries.

House is so important to our pastoral programme as it helps develop skills such as teamwork, resilience and healthy rivalry. We’re very grateful to have such superb Heads of House who ensure this system provides wonderful pastoral opportunities for our students.

Pastoral programme underpins everything we do. Increasingly, employers and universities are looking at what sets students apart from their rivals. What are the use of fantastic grades, if we cannot provide the students the resilience, courage, empathy and kindness to go with them? Percentages and grades do not define the learners we produce. 

It is our student’s ability to look out for others, to have courage in the face of adversity, to show persistence when times are tough, to love and to be kind to all – no matter what their background or circumstance, these are the skills that define our students, and these are the skills our pastoral programme places such importance on.
