Dream school application

刚开始对罗切斯特大学有好感是因为它有长达六个月的冬天。作为一个在南方长大的孩子，一直很渴望看到白皑皑的雪景。而罗村位于纽约上州，冬天常年飘雪，刚好能满足我看雪的愿望。在和老师一起做了school research后，发现UR是一所学术实力强，并且课外活动丰富的学校，有各种各样的社团可以参加。特别是Simon商学院，为学生提供实习，创业的机会。UR ‘encourage students embrace who they are’的理念正是吸引我的地方。因此，在ED II阶段，我把UR定为了我的dream school。在得知被录取的瞬间感到很惊喜，被dream school认可的感觉也让我开心了好几天。

After conducting extensive research about this school with the help of my teachers, I was impressed by the school’s strong academic history, rich extracurricular activities, and the variety of clubs I could imagine myself participating. The Simon Business School, in particular, provides students with opportunities for internships and entrepreneurship, and this caught my eye. UR’s philosophy of "encouraging students to embrace themselves" appeals to me. Also, the geography of the university is appealing to me, as it has a very long snowy winter. I am excited to have received an offer from my dream university.

我在DP1的阶段才确定了自己想读商科专业。在选课上选择了Economics HL，Math AI HL 和 Business Management与商科相关的课程。从DP1开始，每个假期我都会去参加与商业，金融有关的课外活动，比如实习，商赛等。在2021年暑假，我与朋友们去上海参加了WYEF的总决赛。在这次比赛中，我们最后的总排在全国15，还获得了比赛中所有的奖项。而这次经历也为我的文书提供了重要素材。

I decided I wanted to major in business when I was in DP1and selected to study Business-related courses, such as Economics HL, Math AI HL and Business Management. Since DP1, every vacation I have participated in extracurricular activities related to business and finance, such as internships, business competitions, etc. In the summer of 2021, my friends and I went to Shanghai to participate in the WYEF finals. In this competition, we finished 15th overall in the country and won all the prizes in the competition. This experience also provided me with important material for my personal statement and essays for application.

在AIC印象最深刻的社团是我和Tiffany一起组织的Cantonese CAS。怀念每周四下午在教室里一起与成员交流粤语，讨论广府文化的快乐时光。我们还和CAS成员一起组织了一次义工活动，去广州粤剧博物馆为路过的游客讲解粤剧历史。这不仅让我对广府文化有了更深刻的了解，还提升了我组织活动的能力。

For me, the most impressive society at AIC is the Cantonese CAS Club which I organized with Tiffany. I will miss the happy times of talking in Cantonese and discussing Cantonese culture with the members in the classroom on Thursday afternoons. We also organized a volunteer activity with CAS members to go to the Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Museum to explain the history of Cantonese opera to passing tourists. This not only gave me a deeper understanding of the Cantonese culture, but also improved my ability to organize events, and leadership skills.

我是PDP4才来到AIC的。在AIC的三年，除了英语能力的提升，我还提高了时间管理的能力。作为一个爱玩的人，我会因为出去玩耽误了学习的时间。但是，面对IB繁忙的课业，我逐渐学会了合理安排时间，学的时候好好学，玩的时候好好玩。同时，AIC鼓励学生独立学习的教学方式，更是提升了我自我探索，自我学习的能力。而这些能力对大学的学习尤为重要。

I joined AIC at PDP4 level. During my three years at AIC, in addition to improving my English communication skills, I have also improved my time and self-management skills. I changed from being a person who loved entertainment (would delay study until last minute) to someone who could manage her time better. I have learned to know when to study and when to play and be a more balanced student. IB is hard but it also helps with skills development and getting to an awesome university. AIC's teaching method of encouraging students to think critically and to become independent learners has enhanced my self-exploration and self-learning ability. These abilities are especially important for university study; I feel confident about venturing outside of China and studying in a brand new place all by myself.

收获UR的offer，我首先要感谢一直支持我的爸爸妈妈，他们的开明让我在求学过程中没有太大的压力。然后要感谢帮助我申学的老师们。在申请过程中，老师们为我的文书提供了很多有用的建议。我申请的国家较多，包括英美两个不同的体系，因此修改文书的任务也比较重。但老师们一直耐心地指导我，帮助我解决了很多申请中的困难。还有我的朋友们，特别是米奇妙妙屋的好朋友，在我焦虑的时候安慰我，鼓励我，让我觉得自己并没有那么糟糕。最后想说，申请季焦虑其实是正常的，尤其是等待期，因为我们都太急切的想要一个答案了。所以一定要放宽心态，其实好消息都已经在路上啦。祝大家申请季顺利，都能拿到自己心仪的offer！

I would like to firstly thank my parents who have always supported me. Their open-mindedness has allowed me to try new things and to learn from my mistakes. I would also like to thank my teachers who helped me throughout the university application process. They provided me with a lot of helpful suggestions for my essays and writing prompts. I applied to many countries, including the two different systems of the United Kingdom and the United States; while the task of revising the documents was relatively heavy, the support teachers provided motivated me to do my best. They guided me patiently and helped me answer many of my questions. I would also like to thank my friends, especially good friends from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, who comforted me when I was anxious, encouraged me, and made me feel better every time I was down. Finally, I want to say that application season anxiety is actually common, especially the waiting period, because we are all too eager for an answer. All you have to do is to relax your mind; in fact, the good news is already on the way. I wish everyone a smooth application season and hope you get the offers of your choice!

孩子从小就有出国读书的志向，在孩子初中期间，我们通过朋友介绍了解到了亚加达国际预科AIC。在参观过校园后，AIC的环境，氛围还有学生面貌在当时都是令我满意的，所以最后也选择让孩子在AIC入读。

Since childhood, Wendy has been dreaming of studying overseas, and so we started seeking for an international school since she was in Junior school.  While we visited AIC, we found excellent facilities and study atmosphere, so we decided to enrol her at AIC to achieve her dreams.

在孩子申请学校的过程中，很感谢学校专业的申学团队对孩子的辅导。作为父母，我们本身对出国留学方面并不太了解，而AIC专业，高水平的申学团队为孩子的升学提供了保障，让我们放心。选择专业的人做专业的事，在升学这一块上，作为父母我们并没有太多担心，孩子也在专业的指引下少走了很多弯路。

In the process of applying for the school, I was very grateful to the school's professional application team for their guidance.  As parents, we do not know much about studying overseas, but AIC’s professional counselling team provided guarantees for our children's further studies which made us feel assured. It made us feel at ease by choosing a professional team to do professional things, furthermore, in the aspect of further education, our children would also take less detours under the guidance of professionals.

当初在孩子入读时，希望她能在开心，健康，快乐之余考入国际上有名的大学。而如今，孩子也离当初的目标越来越近。看着孩子在学习能力，生活能力上都有了提升，我们也感到欣慰。

When Wendy was first enrolled in AIC, I was hoping she could be admitted to a famous university while being happy and healthy. And now, she is getting closer and closer to the original goal. We are so pleased to see Wendy’s learning ability and life skills dramatically improve.

第一次见到Wendy时，她是来升学办公室询问关于选校方面的一些问题，虽然对英国和美国申请需要准备哪些材料还懵懵懂懂，但是她已经十分坚定自己在商科上的Passion。Wendy是一个多才多艺的女孩，不仅在体育活动上有天赋，也在课外活动充分展示了自己的音乐天赋，同时兼任Phoenix House的House Leader照顾低年级的学生。Wendy是一个积极向上且非常有想法的女孩，从加入AIC开始，大大小小的活动都能见到她的身影。

I first met Wendy in the Counselling Office. She came to enquire information about the university selection process. Although she did not know what to prepare for the applications, she was very passionate and keen on studying business. Wendy is a talented and active young woman. She has shown her music talent in many activities and serving as the Student Leader of the Phoenix House to help her team. Wendy is a very characterful girl, she participated in many events while in AIC.

在与她沟通文书的过程中，我发现Wendy的爱好很广泛，为了给大学展示她最特别的地方，我们最后敲定了写她的世界之旅。从小到大，Wendy就很喜欢旅游，她在不同时期的经历带给她成长的意义都是与众不同的。从Brainstorming到最后定稿，我们用每一段旅途诠释了不一样的她，直至最后串联成“Along the road, I got to know myself better and more about the world” – 旅游就是她探索这个世界的窗口。没有什么高大上的故事，没有什么催人泪下的背景，就是认认真真地展示自己的成长之路：一个勇于走出舒适区去探索未知世界的女孩。真实才能成就一篇引人深思和共鸣的申请文书。

When I discussed the personal statement with Wendy, I found that she had a wide range of hobbies. In order to show the university what makes her unique, we decided on writing about her world tour. Wendy has been fond of traveling since she was a child, her experiences in different periods brought her different meanings to her growth. From Brainstorming to the final draft, we used each journey to interpret a different version of her, until the final series became "Along the road, I got to know myself better and more about the world" - travel is her window to explore the world. There is no elegant story, no tear-jerking background, just simplify a serious display of her growth path: a girl who has the courage to step out of her comfort zone and explore the unknown world. Authenticity makes for a thought-provoking and resonant essay.

同时，在申请季的时间规划非常重要，孩子的时间有限，结合孩子的兴趣爱好分梯次安排好申请不同地区大学的时间。从选校开始到最后提交申请，我们都重点关注了商科强势的海外大学，最终Wendy顺利结束了中国香港、英国、美国和加拿大的大学申请且均有斩获Offer。西蒙商学院是罗切斯特大学最出名的学院之一，竞争难度是不言而喻的，Wendy在ED II这一轮收到了录取非常的不容易，最后祝愿Wendy在罗切斯特大学继续绽放光彩！

At the same time, time planning during the application season is very important since students have limited time. According to interests and hobbies, students must plan to arrange the time to apply for universities in different regions. From the beginning, university selection, to the final application, our focus is to select the best possible options for students in dialogue with their parents. Wendy successfully completed university applications in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, and successfully received offers from all universities she applied to.  Simon Business School is one of the most famous colleges at the University of Rochester. Wendy's received her office for admission in the ED II round, which is impressive.
