As the new year is approaching, NACIS students have started their holiday life. The sudden epidemic may disrupt the long-distance travel plans, so let us wander in the sea of books and look for a different journey. Reading some good books and interesting stories is also a reflection of the value of winter vacation time.
students of different ages based on their learning needs. After reading, how to give feedback and reflection? How to deepen their understanding of reading content? Our teachers also made a "self-examination checklist" for students.

“Giraffe Problems”
This amazing book is sure to make all our NACIS students laugh during the Winter break. Witty, a bit silly, with irresistible characters, fabulous illustrations and a serious point to make, Giraffe Problems is an outstanding picture book, one that will easily stand repeat readings.
“I Talk Like a River”
This is a beautiful picture book that will resonate with all readers, young and old. I choose this book because I am very confident all students would enjoy the journey this book takes us on and could apply the key messages from it to their own lives.

“A Book of Bears”
The book introduces readers to the eight different species of bears living in the world, and there’s a section on each one, with a very useful illustrated panel showing ‘how they size up’. This is followed by pages on things all or most bears do, from eating and swimming (all) to hibernating (not all).
“Giraffe Problems”
This book was the winner of the “Costa Children's Book Award” in 2020. I challenge any of our NACIS readers, young or old, not to want to devour this book in one delicious sitting. Once started upon the story of Lotti and Ben, two orphans living in the aftermath of World War 1 and who could not be more different in temperament or background, it is impossible to put this book down. This book is sure to teach our students about the importance of friendship and will show them the power behind being open- minded and resilient.

We found that classic reading gives children more room for imagination. Even if it is a small piece of language, children can often extend more personalized understanding through performance, painting, music or multimedia creation. We are not only delighted to witness that child gradually understand the subtleties of Chinese and Western languages, cultures and arts, but also find the improvement of children’s international vision and global competencies.

We hope to cultivate students' interest in reading literature, humanities, and popular science books, rather than being limited to a certain type of books. We not only respect the interests of students, but also focuses on guidance. Whether recommending books or selecting collections, we highlight the Chinese cultural tradition and emphasize the international perspective.
In order to carry out the targeted reading for primary and secondary students, English books are graded according to Accelerated Reader (AR), so that students can choose books suitable for their own reading based on professional AR test. In order to make it easier for primary students to find books that match their ZPD scores, the primary library has also been re-arranged. At present, English books are arranged according to the AR classification, which is clear at a glance.
