Interdisciplinary Spelling Bee
如何通过不同的方式提升学生的学习效率?我校学科老师们颇有经验,例如通过课堂互动、动手实验、课堂调研、以及拼写比赛等等。12月我校开展了全校跨学科拼写比赛。Ms. Johnson和Mr. Banks介绍本届拼写比赛与众不同的地方在于:
拼写大赛的词汇来自于不同的学科,有利于提高通用英语的流利性,也有助于激励学生正确运用这些词汇。
The Spelling Bee compiles vocabulary from across different subjects with vocabulary for general English fluency, and encourages students to practice using these correctly.
语言组的老师们群策群力,与其他学科组紧密合作,汇聚不同学科的词汇,让学生通过拼写比赛来加强对学科知识点的巩固。
拼写比赛为期五周,所有参赛学生参加四轮初赛后,各年级中前两名得分最高的学生参加决赛。
决赛要求学生正确拼写和运用词汇。最后的赛事还有现场观众的参与,学生有机会和冠军一同练习词汇的运用。
The teachers of the Language Department worked together and promoted close cooperation with other subjects teahcers to compile vocabulary. This spelling competition aimed at helping students enhance the consolidation of subject knowledge.
Across five weeks, students participated in 4 rounds of spelling tests to prepare, and the two highest scoring students from each grade then competed in the finals.
In the finals, students had to both spell and apply words correctly. The final event included live audience participation so that students could practice their vocabulary alongside the champions.

拼写大赛提供了非常棒的机会,学生可以在趣味中锻炼语言能力,复习重要词汇。此外,这种活动有助于进一步培养各年级学生之间的集体精神。
Spelling Bee was a great opportunity for the students to practice their language skills and review important words in a fun environment. Additionally, the initiative helped construct a stronger sense of community between students of all grades.
参与决赛的G1年级Oliver同学探索各种单词记忆方法:
我在这届比赛中收获了很多。在准备的过程中,我探索出了最有效的记忆方法,也深化和拓展了各种学科中的词汇。
在拼写词汇和抄写中文释义的过程中,我加深了对这些词汇的理解和记忆。为了记住这些词汇,我还会在空闲时间大声朗读。
I have gained a lot in this competition. In the process of preparation, I explored my most efficient memory method and deepened and expanded the vocabulary of various subjects.
I am familiar with these words through the spelling of words and the copying of Chinese interpretation. In my spare time, I often read these words aloud to remember these words.
G2年级的Linda和Cici同学是观众参与者:
我们不断练习词汇拼写,精心准备这次比赛。经过了一段时间的准备,所有参赛者都斗志昂扬。我认为这是一种学习英语的好方法,也非常有趣!虽然我们花了很长时间去准备,但比赛中还是有一些词是我们不认识的。下次比赛我还要更加努力!
We prepared for the competition by practicing spelling the vocabulary. After a period of time preparing for the competition, everyone came to take part in the game. I think it's a good way to learn English, as it was fun! Although we practiced for a long time, there are still some words to be known. I will work harder next time!
