昆山华二正式更名为昆山狄邦华曜学校

——关于学校校名变更的通告

2017年8月，昆山经济技术开发区、华东师范大学和狄邦教育集团签订合作协议，三方及华东师范大学第二附属中学在昆山共同创办“一所融合中外教育精粹的高度国际化学校，构建既传承中国传统文化精髓，又全面引入美国名校所独有的以全人教育为宗旨，以全面学术能力培养、个性化课外活动设计和浸润寄宿制学习管理为手段的人才培养体系”。

这是我们创办这所学校的初衷，时移世易，惟初心不敢忘。

合作协议同时将“上海华二昆山学校”暂定为学校名称，从那个时刻起，“上海华二”陪伴我们走过了1775天，这四个字对学校创办者，对我们所有的学者，所有的家长，所有的教职员工意味着一个教育理想国，一个精神家园，一个托举梦想的所在。

Rooted in the Past, Embracing the Future

--Notification on the Changing of our School Name

In August 2017, the Kunshan Economic-Technological Development Area, East China Normal University (ECNU) and Dipont Education Group signed a cooperation agreement. The three parties, along with No. 2 High School of ECNU (the Huaer Middle School), joined hands to establish in Kunshan “a highly internationalized school integrating the essence of Eastern and Western education. While passing on the fine traditional Chinese culture, it would construct a holistic education system inherited from American elite schools, featuring the comprehensive academic program, the individualized student life program and the immersion boarding program.”

This is our original vision when establishing this school, and we never dare to forget it despite the lapse of time.

In the agreement, the school’s name was decided to be Shanghai Huaer Collegiate School Kunshan. Since then, the name Shanghai Huaer had been with us for 1775 days. These two words mean to all our scholars, parents and staff an education utopia, a spiritual home and a place to raise our dreams.

2021年5月，中共中央办公厅、国务院办公厅印发《关于规范民办义务教育发展的意见》的通知，文件要求，民办义务教育学校名称 不得冠以“中国”、“中华”、“全国”、“世界”、“全球”等字样”;“不得包 含公办学校名称或简称”，“不得含有外语词、外国国名、外国地名”， “不得使用国外教育机构专用名称命名”等。

为落实中央要求，江苏省教育厅要求全省民办学校在 12 月底前按规范完成学校名称的变更。

为此，我们不得不和相处了1775天的“上海华二”依依惜别，去拥抱一个崭新的学校名称。

在与合作伙伴华东师范大学、华东师范大学第二附属中学进行充分商议，经学校理事会研究决定，主管部门批准，学校原校名“昆山市上海华二学校”正式更名为“昆山狄邦华曜学校”。

In May 2021, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued a document entitled The Opinions on Standardizing the Development of Private Compulsory Education. It requires that the name of private compulsory education schools should not contain certain words including China, Chinese, National, World or Global; “should not contain names or abbreviations of public schools”; “should not contain transliterated words, names of foreign countries or places”; “should not contain proper names of foreign education institutions”, etc.

To implement the requirements from the Central Government, the Jiangsu Provincial Education Department asked all the private schools in Jiangsu to change their names according to the new policy before the end of December.

Thus, we have to say goodbye to “Shanghai Huaer”, a name that has accompanied us for 1775 days, and to embrace a new school name.

After full consultation with our partners ECNU and Huaer Middle School, the school board decided after careful consideration a new school name, and it has been approved by the authority. Our school’s name, previously Shanghai Huaer Collegiate School Kunshan, is now officially Dipont Huayao Collegiate School Kunshan.

更名后华师大及华师大二附中将继续向狄邦华曜学校输出自身的先进教育理念和学校管理体系，在教育和学术发展、师资选拔和培养、课程与学科建设，以及学生活动和培育、发展与评估，以及校园文化建设方面提供强有力的支持。同时，狄邦华曜学校作为华东师范大学基础教育集团的成员校，华东师大及华师大二附中将通过基础教育集团平台，在学科竞赛辅导、小研究项目支持、科技创新辅导、校际网络建设等方面，给予我们的学校全面指导和帮助。一言以蔽之，除却校名的变化，合作初心依旧。

Changing of the name won’t affect us in getting strong support from ECNU and Huaer Middle School in advanced education ideas, school management, teaching and academic development, teacher recruitment and training, curriculum and subject construction, student activity and cultivation, student development and evaluation, as well as school culture construction. Meanwhile, as a member school of the ECNU Education System, the Dipont Huayao Collegiate School would continue to receive full guidance and support from ECNU and Huaer Middle School on preparation for academic competitions, conducting research projects, counselling on science and technology innovations and inter-school relationship network. In one word, though the name has changed, the essence of cooperation remains the same.

With years of experience in international education and in serving Chinese families, and with the advantage of a full team of nearly 1000 Chinese and expat educators, Dipont has formed partnership with the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, No. 2 High School of ECNU, Nanjing Foreign Language School and King’s College London, to work on the successful establishment of four innovative K-12 schools in Hangzhou, Wuxi, Kunshan and Chengdu since 2013. These four schools are not a copy of our partner schools, but re-creation after absorbing all the modern education ideas. 当上海华二昆山学校于2020年9月正式开学时，我们完成了第一个里程碑的跨越，由草创而至成熟，开启全新的征程。

如今，新征程，新校名，寓意进取、创新。目标更为高远，然而初心始终不改：“文理兼容、全人教育”之宗旨不变；四方合作的热诚不变，如同学校校徽上紧扣在一起的四环，合作方对学校的支持一如既往；不变的是多元融合、追求卓越的校园文化，是舞台上异域同声的合唱曲，是不同肤色下灿烂的笑容。

The opening of Shanghai Huaer Collegiate School Kunshan in September 2020 marks the first milestone of when our vision came into reality, embarking on a brand new journey.

And now, this journey has a new name which indicates forward-looking and innovation. We have now a higher goal, but our original vision remains unchanged: we stick to our ethos of holistic education integrating liberal arts with sciences; the four-way partnership still remains strong, just like the four links on our school crest closely linked with each other; our school culture of diversity, integration and the pursuit of excellence carries on, just like our chorus consisting of different voices, or the smiling faces on our campus.

Shanghai Huaer Collegiate School Kunshan was born from Dipont’s decades-long exploration in practicing international education in China. Its origin derives from our persistence in creating rich and diverse education experience for Chinese families, and from our firm goal to make Chinese kids learned scholars with virtues.

Today, let us bid farewell to the name Shanghai Huaer; meanwhile, let us have confidence that we stand on the cutting edge of education innovation, and we are leading our school to embrace a new future.

The new name, representing our legacy and innovation, is now officially Dipont Huayao Collegiate School Kunshan. And we expect that:
