上海市民办中芯学校：中芯学子获USAD中国站大赛第六名

3月24日至26日，在为期三天的美国学术十项全能2023中国站大赛（United States Academic Decathlon，简称USAD）中， 上海市民办中芯学校九名学生（其中5名来自国际部九年级，4名来自中文部出国留学班）代表中芯学校与全国三百余所学校的学生同台竞技，取得了中等规模学校（Division II）团队总分第6名的好成绩。同时，我校被评为通识教育新秀学校。

March 24th-26th, 9 students from Shanghai SMIC Private School (5 from SMIC-ID G9 and 4 from SMIC-CT GAP10) participated in the United States Academic Decathlon (USAD) China 2023 in Hainan. The SMIC sharks team placed 6th in the Division II (Middle Sized Schools) Overall Team Competition. SMIC School also received USAD China's Outstanding General Education Rising Star School recognition.

作为USAD中唯一的公开环节，超级问答非常考验参赛团队的合作能力及反应速度。主持人现场念题，每组只有10秒钟的时间现场作答。在全国300余名优秀学校（其中不乏京沪深等地知名学校）的比拼中，我校队伍获得了 Super Quiz 全国第10名的好成绩。可喜可贺！

As the only public session of the USAD, the Super Quiz greatly tests the teamwork and reaction speed of participating teams. The host reads the questions on the spot, and each team has only 10 seconds to answer. In the competition among more than 300 outstanding schools across the country (including well-known schools in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and other cities), SMIC sharks team achieved excellent result of 10th place in the Super Quiz nationally. Well done sharks!

比赛现场及赛前准备

时隔三年重回线下比赛的USAD此次在海南海花岛召开，备受瞩目。在校内经过层层选拔后，同学们为了准备这次大赛，前后付出了五个多月的时间和心血。USAD是重视团队精神的大赛，共有10门科目，教材体量大，所涉知识面广。中芯同学们各自挑选不同的科目，研读相应教材，做好详细的笔记后将其分享给其他队员，节省彼此的时间，互帮互助，互相鼓励，一起合作，在有限的时间里最大化地提升了队伍整体水平。教练周屹对孩子们的热情、团结友爱赞叹不已，表示在孩子们身上看到了中芯学校“品格第一，追求卓越，胸怀世界，快乐成长”之品格教育的巨大力量。

This year USAD is back to in-person competitions in Hainan after being online for the past three years, attracting great attention. After several rounds of screening and selection within the school, the students spent more than five months of time and effort preparing for this competition. The USAD is a competition that values teamwork, with a total of 10 subjects, a large amount of teaching materials, covering a wide range of knowledge. The students from SMIC team each selected different subjects, studied the corresponding textbooks, made detailed notes, shared with each other, and worked together to maximize the overall ability of the team within limited time. Coach Shiny Zhou spoke highly of the passion and team spirit of SMIC sharks team, which represented the tremendous power of the character education of “Honor, Excellence, Community, Joy”at the SMIC School.

利用课余时间备赛研讨学习

此次比赛受到了中芯学校CIC课程融合中心韩德馨副校长的大力支持；李海燕老师组织协调；周屹教练更是在五个多月的时间中全程指导、陪伴同学们的赛前学习，并带队前往海南参赛。家长朋友在孩子们参赛的交通、食宿、摄影记录等后勤保障方面给予了极大支持。在此一并致以真挚的感谢。

Throughout the process of this event, SMIC CIC Vice Principle Stella Han strongly supported SMIC sharks team, CIC Ms. Susan Li helped to coordinate the event, Coach Shiny Zhou taught and guided students during the entire process. Parents have also been such great support with regards to helping logistics such as transportation, accommodation, video recording etc, all of which are greatly appreciated.

我非常幸运能与大家为伍一起参加2022-23年的USAD。不得不说，USAD确实是一个折磨人的活动：它会不停地挤压我们课内的时间，榨干我们每天仅剩的精力，剥夺我们寒假所有原本可以被计划好的出游... 然而不管怎样，我依然总是能看到每一位队友的认真与努力和教练从头到尾持续性的照顾与投入，他们的陪伴与冲劲也一直是我享受并热爱参与这次比赛的最大原因。总之，我非常感激能拥有作为这个队伍其中一员的机会，也对这五个月以来所有的经历发自内心地感谢。

I have been very lucky to be part of this team. I have to say that USAD is extremely challenging: we had so little time for our schoolwork and rest since so much time was spent on preparing for USAD. We had to give up our travel plans during winter holidays ... Nevertheless, I could always see the seriousness and effort of every teammate and the coach's continuous care and dedication from beginning to end. Their company and drive have always been the biggest reason why I enjoyed and loved participating in this competition. All in all, I am really grateful to be part of this team and I give thanks to all that I have experienced over these five months.

当初报名校队选拔考的时候没有料到之后会遇到这样棒的队友、有这样奇妙的经历。在这五个月里我从比赛、从队友们身上学到了很多。我们的成绩离不开所有人的努力。我非常想要感谢周屹教练，无论是赛前组织还是率队参赛，都离不开教练的付出。其次是我们的Captain李亦文，她是非常好的队长，会挤出时间多做功课、督促大家复习，给大家答疑、甚至会照顾大家的情绪。在海南，很多行程上的推动和与别的队social交流情报都离不开她。最后我想要感谢Alexander，他主动帮我大改我的演讲稿。我的金牌，他有一半的功劳。感谢与各位的相遇和共事，期待后续！

When I signed up for the school team selection exam, I never expected to meet such great teammates and have such wonderful experiences. In these five months, I learned a lot from the competition and my teammates. Our achievements cannot be separated from everyone's efforts. I really want to thank Coach Shiny, whose contribution is indispensable in organizing and leading the team in the competition. Secondly, our Captain, Dora Li is such a wonderful leader. She makes time to do more homework, urges everyone to review, answers questions for everyone, and even takes care of everyone's emotions. In Hainan, much of the itinerary and social communication with other teams cannot be done without her. Finally, I want to thank Alexander, who voluntarily helped me revise my speech, and my Gold medal is partly due to him. Thank you everyone for meeting and working together, I am looking forward to what comes next.

这次USAD收获还是超级多的！终于理解了什么是超人类…学到了很多很多，不光是课本上的东西，也还有其它的事情。好玩是不怎么好玩的，但是是很有很有意思的体验！

This USAD experience was really rewarding! I finally understood what it means to be a superhuman. I learned so much, not just from the textbooks, but also from other things. It wasn't necessarily fun, but it was a very interesting and meaningful experience!
